Dorian was founded by Max Coen & Chris D'Sylva, who aimed to create a unique dining experience in Notting Hill, an area known for its high-profile culinary scene. The restaurant opened its doors in 2020, under the culinary leadership of co-owner Max Coen. Coen, who spent time at notable establishments like Ikoyi and Kitchen Table, and the Three Michelin-starred Frantzen in Stockholm has a wealth of experience and a fresh approach to British cuisine. The restaurant was awarded one Michelin Star in 2024.
Notting Hill is enjoying a culinary renaissance, and DORIAN is playing a big part. Coen’s passion for seasonal produce is evident on the menu at DORIAN, an ‘of the moment’ fixture fast becoming one of the hottest tables in town.
Terse menu descriptions belie the quality of the cooking at this energisingly busy neighbourhood brasserie in Notting Hill. Excellent primary ingredients are at the core, which are lovingly treated by the kitchen team, with highly skilled wood-fired grilling a feature of the menu; grab a seat at the counter to get a view of the chefs in action. Dishes vary from single-bite snacks such as creamy liver parfait toast to shared main courses like deliciously filling Limousin veal chop with vin jaune.
Max and Chris said they wanted the Notting Hill restaurant “to feel like it’s been there forever” when they launched it in 2022. Mission accomplished, then, for the owner of Notting Hill Fish + Meat Shop and Supermarket of Dreams with The Road restaurant having risen to institutional status pretty much overnight. The majority of the mains are cooked over open flame with roughly equal billing given to meat and fish. All of it is exceptionally high quality, with Coen using his contacts from his time at far fancier places to great effect.
